Youtube geht wegen Falschinformationen zur Behandlung von Covid-19-Erkrankten gegen das One America News Network vor. Der Sender gehört zu den Lieblingsprogrammen von US-Präsident Donald Trump.
Das One America News Network (OAN) ist eigentlich ein verhältnismäßig kleiner Fernsehsender in den Vereinigten Staaten – und ist dennoch international bekannt.
Das liegt vor allem an einem Zuschauer: Donald Trump. Immer wieder verwies der US-Präsident in seinen Tweets auf die Berichterstattung des extrem konservativen Senders

. Er bezeichnete ihn als großartige Alternative zu Fox News. Zum Programm des Senders gehören neben der Glorifizierung von Donald Trump auch immer wieder Verschwörungsmythen über das Coronavirus. Mitarbeiter von OAN wurden sogar zwischenzeitlich von Terminen der Weißes-Haus-Korrespondentenvereinigung ausgeschlossen, weil sie sich nicht an die Infektionsschutzregeln halten wollten.
Wegen der Verbreitung von Falschinformationen hat nun das zum Google-Konzern Alphabet gehörende Videoportal Youtube OAN den Stecker gezogen. Eine Woche lang ist es dem Sender verboten, neue Videos auf seinem Youtube-Kanal (1, 2 Millionen Follower) zu veröffentlichen. Das berichten zahlreiche US-Medien übereinstimmend.
Nach einer sorgfältigen Überprüfung haben wir ein Video von OAN entfernt und eine Verwarnung ausgesprochen, zitieren unter anderem der Sender CBS und die Nachrichtenagentur Reuters eine Youtube-Sprecherin. Grund seien wiederholte Verstöße gegen die Covid-19-Desinformations-Richtlinien des Videoportals. Zudem sei der OAN-Kanal vom Monetarisierungsprogramm ausgeschlossen worden, der Sender kann also zurzeit kein Geld mehr mit Werbung in oder vor seinen Videos verdienen. Für das Partnerprogramm müsse sich OAN neu bewerben. Der Kanal ist jedoch weiterhin abrufbar.

Konkret sei ein Beitrag beanstandet und gelöscht geworden, in dem das Malariamittel Hydroxychloroquin fälschlicherweise als Medikament für Covid-19-Erkrankte angepriesen worden sei. Auf der Homepage des Senders ist das Video weiterhin zu sehen. Auch Donald Trump hatte zwischenzeitlich für die Einnahme des Mittels geworben. Die US-Arzneimittelbehörde hatte die Zulassung wegen geringer Wirksamkeit und möglicher schwerer Nebenwirkungen bereits vor Monaten zurückgezogen. Auch in der Europäischen Union und in Deutschland warnen die Behörden vor einer Covid-19-Therapie mit Hydroxychloroquin.
Youtube behält sich weitere Schritte gegen OAN vor. Das Videoportal fährt nach Angaben der Sprecherin eine Drei-Stufen-Strategie bei Verstößen gegen die Nutzungsrichtlinien.
