This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Join the more than two million volunteers and supporters who will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach at more than 4, 000 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It meansyou are supporting a yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Your sponsorship will support the new and existing programs developed to share the mission. And, it will place a wreath tohonor an American hero at one of more than3, 700participatinglocations this year onNationalWreaths Across America Day–a day set aside to lay gathers as Americans with the same goal.
We can’t do that without your support, though. Your sponsorship will ensure that a wreath is hand-crafted of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow here in Columbia Falls, Maine. It will then be sent to one of our participating locations, where a volunteer will place it on the marker of a hero. That volunteer will then “say their name” to ensure that the legacy of duty, service and sacrifice is never forgotten.

In December 2008, the United States Sate agreed to a resolution that designated December 13, 2008, as Wreaths Across America Day.
In 1992, the Worcester Wreath company in Harrington, Maine, had a surplus at the d of the Christmas holiday season. Recalling a boyhood trip to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, company founder Morrill Worcester donated to the cemetery 5, 000 wreaths to honor the cemetery's dead,
Wreaths Across America Needs Your Help Honoring Veterans
With the help of volunteers and a local trucking company. After thirte years of similar donations, in 2005 a photo of snowy gravestones covered with wreaths at the cemetery received widespread circulation on the internet. Thousands of people called Worcester, wanting to replicate the wreath-laying service at their own veteran cemeteries.
At the d of 2006, Worcester's company supplied wreaths to over 230 state and national cemeteries and veterans monumts across the country.
Over 150 differt locations simultaneously held ceremonies with Arlington's. Additionally, the project had its first Veterans Honor Parade with Patriot Guard Riders who escorted the wreaths from Maine to the cemetery. The parade, which is held each year, now visits schools, monumts, veterans' homes and communities along its route.
As Wreaths Across America Has Grown, So Has Scrutiny About Its Practices
In 2014, volunteers placed over 700, 000 memorial wreaths at 1, 000 locations in the United States and overseas, including the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Bunker Hill, Valley Forge, and the National September 11 Memorial at the World Trade Cter site in New York City. During that year, volunteers were able to place wreaths in all sections of Arlington Cemetery for the first time.
Conflict of interest charges have be made against Wreaths Across America because this charity has an exclusive for-profit supplier, Worcester Wreath Company, also run by the Morrill family in the same town. The charity's purchases of wreaths from this company account for most of the company's revue and profits. In late 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported serious conflicts of interest with pottial malfeasance in governance and contracting.

In 2015 alone, the Journal reported profits of over $1 million on sales of over 850, 000 wreaths to the charity raising concerns about competitive bidding, reporting that several competitors had asked to bid significantly below the price offered by Worcester Wreath company but were died access.
Wreaths Across America Comes To Maine
In 2016, Wreaths Across America, implemted a request for proposal process for the provision of wreaths which is managed by the board of directors.
The organization has stated that they intd to address perceptions of conflict of interest by selecting an outside agcy to manage the tire RFP process in 2023.
In early 2022, Morrill Worcester announced a proposed Flagpole of Freedom Park to be located on 2, 500 acres (1, 000 ha) of his family's land in Columbia Falls in Downeast Maine.
Wreaths Across America Decorates Iowa Veterans Cemetery
The project is separate from Wreaths Across America and is managed by Morrill, Rob, and Mike Worcester. While Morrill is the founder of both projects they are run by differt managemt teams and governed indepdtly of each other.
The cterpiece flagpole has a planned height of 1, 461 feet (445 m), slightly taller than the Empire State Building, and including the hill below it will be 1, 776 feet (541 m) above sea level (a referce to 1776, the year of the U.S.'s declaration of indepdce), with two observation decks, one at the top.
The park is also slated to include 55 individual remembrance-wall parks carved with the names of every military veteran in US. history.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) Day pays tribute in s cemeteries nationwide. The WAA mission includes raising awareness of the sacrifices s make for the country and encouraging more people to remember.
Wreaths Across America Kicks Off On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021
WAA, the organization, evolved out of one family’s efforts to honor s. The Worcester family owns a memorial wreath business and has been making wreath donations to Arlington National Cemetery for many years. A photograph featuring some of those wreaths went viral circa 2005.
One of the unintended results of that viral image that featured Worcester donated wreaths covered in snow was that donations began coming in to support the donations of the wreaths.
According to the WAA official site, at first those donations were sent back to the givers “because there was no mechanism in place for the family to accept the donations at that time.” Yet the floodgates of donations had been opened and there were thousands of requests to help out.
